The Town of Greater Napanee has officially declared March 26, 2025, as National Epilepsy Awareness Day following a request from Christina Lord of Epilepsy Southeastern Ontario (ESEO).
ESEO is a registered charity that provides support services for people with epilepsy and their families, along with community education to reduce stigma. Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder with no cure, affecting nearly 5,000 people in Southeastern Ontario.
Since March is Epilepsy Awareness Month, residents are encouraged to learn more about the condition and wear a lavender ribbon to show support.
The proclamation highlights the impact of epilepsy on individuals, families, and caregivers, urging the community to raise awareness and support those affected.
