A vehicle discovered in ditch in Prince Edward County has resulted in a driver being charged with impaired operation.
Early on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at around 12:00 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single-vehicle collision on Taft Road. After further investigation and a roadside screening test, 44-year-old Melanie Burley from Caledon, was arrested for impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.
Burley was taken to the OPP detachment for further testing. She has been charged with two counts: operation while impaired and operation with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in her blood.
She was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on March 26, 2025. Burley’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle impounded for seven days.
OPP urges the public to report any suspected impaired driving by calling 9-1-1 to help prevent accidents.
