The Napanee Raiders are heading to the Tod Division Finals!
At home Friday night, the Raiders led 1-0 at the end of the first, thanks to a goal by Michael Airhart. A goal by Reid Lambert had the Raiders up 2-0 in the second before the Jets scored their first of the night for a 2-1 Raiders lead at the end of the second. Reid Lambert then scored twice early in the third period to earn the hat trick and lead the Raiders to a 4-1 lead. The Jets then managed to get two more past Logan Vale. But Raiders Michael Patrick and Reid Lambert each scored to lead the Raiders to a 6-3 win! Shots on goal were 43-23 favouring the Raiders.
Sunday night in Amherstview, Napanee’s own Ben White scored first to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. The Jets then tied the game, but before the period end, Erik MacNiel found the back of the net for a 2-1 Raiders lead. Amherstview scored first in the second to tie the game, which Ben White answered with his second of the night for a 3-2 Raiders lead the end the period. All goals up to this point were scored on the Power Play. Isaac Brown then scored early in the third period to solidify the Raiders lead at 4-2. Matthew then ended the period with an empty net goal for a 5-2 win! Shots on goal were 28-25 favouring the Raiders.
It looks like Loyalist Township’s Mayor will be wearing a Raiders jersey at an upcoming meeting! Greater Napanee Mayor Terry Richardson and Loyalist Township Mayor Jim Hegadorn set up a friendly bet that the mayor of the losing team would have the wear the other teams jersey to a future council meeting.
The Raiders are 8-2 so far in the playoffs and have some this series 4-2 Looking to the other Tod division matchup, Lakefield and Frankford are tied 3-3 in their series. Their game 7 goes Tuesday night in Frankford.
