
A Monday night RIDE program by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Prince Edward County led to the arrest of a 72-year-old driver for impaired driving.
Officers were conducting roadside checks on Highway 62 at County Road 3 around 10:30 p.m. on March 17 when they tested a driver with an Approved Screening Device. The driver was arrested and taken to the detachment for further testing.
Sharon Wickett, 72, of Prince Edward County, was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol concentration over 80.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Picton on April 2, 2025. Their licence was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Police urge the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1.
