Two major outdoor events are set to bring crowds to downtown Napanee this summer and fall. Town council recently heard presentations from organizers of both events, which promise food, music, and classic cars.
The first event is a barbecue competition scheduled for Aug. 23, 2025. Donald Stokes, one of the organizers, told council the event is entirely run by volunteers who want to give back to the community. He asked for temporary road closures, street cleaning, working electrical outlets, access to water, garbage disposal, and fire and food safety compliance. Stokes also invited council members to help judge the competition, as long as they have knowledge of barbecue and food. Staff will review the requests and report back.
Another highly anticipated event, Guitars ‘n Cars, will return on Sept. 20, 2025, after a long break. Tiffany Lloyd of Greater Napanee Connect said the event, which drew over 1,000 people in 2019, will feature classic cars, live music, and local businesses. Organizers are asking for road closures, signage, and traffic management support.
With strong community interest and sponsorship backing, both events are expected to have a major economic impact on downtown Napanee.
