(L-R) Ray Mathew (Holy Cross, Kingston), Emily Esperanzate (NCC, Belleville) and Gabrielle Jette (St. Theresa, Belleville)
The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) has elected three student trustees for the 2025-26 school year. These students will represent their peers, attend board meetings, and advocate for student issues.
Ray Mathew, a Grade 11 student at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Kingston, will represent the East. He believes leadership is about listening, creating a welcoming environment, and ensuring every student has a voice.
Emily Esperanzate, a Grade 11 student at Nicholson Catholic College in Belleville, will continue as the West representative. She hopes to strengthen student voice and engagement across the board.
Gabrielle Jette, a Grade 11 student at St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School in Belleville, will represent Indigenous voices. She is committed to ensuring Indigenous students are heard and recognized.
The new trustees will be sworn in at the June Board Meeting. ALCDSB leaders say student perspectives are essential in shaping the future of Catholic education.
