Cataraqui Conservation has updated its flood watch as more rain is expected across the region. The area received 16 to 32 millimetres of rain between April 2 and 3, plus another 10 to 25 millimetres that was forecast for Saturday, April 5.
Urban and larger creeks are running high, and water levels on managed lakes are rising. The ground is already saturated, increasing the risk of runoff and flooding in low-lying areas.
Local lakes are among those with higher-than-normal levels. Water managers have opened outflows to control rising water, but more rain could still cause flooding of roads and floodplains.
Widespread flooding is not expected, but residents in flood-prone areas are being warned to take precautions.
The flood watch remains in effect until April 16.
