Public health officials are urging Ontarians to check their vaccine records as the province faces a fast-growing measles outbreak. As of April 2, 2025, there are 655 reported cases — 560 confirmed and 95 probable — across 13 public health units.
In Hastings County, 43 cases have been confirmed, all in people who were not vaccinated. A case has also been confirmed in Kingston.
Officials say the best way to prevent the spread is to make sure vaccinations are up to date. The MMR vaccine is free and available from health-care providers and local clinics.
The measles virus spreads easily through the air and can live on surfaces for up to two hours.
To check your immunization record or book a vaccine, visit your local health unit’s website or call their office directly.
