A 19-year-old driver was arrested early Wednesday morning following a RIDE program conducted by Prince Edward County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Officers set up a checkpoint on Highway 62 at around 2:15 a.m. on April 9, 2025, using an Approved Screening Device. The driver, Isaiah Traore of Prince Edward County, was arrested and taken to the detachment for further testing.
Traore faces two charges: operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and exceeding the legal blood alcohol concentration limit. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle impounded for seven days. Traore was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in Picton on April 30, 2025.
The OPP is reminding the public to report any suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1, as it may help save lives.
