The Ontario government is investing $495,717 to improve public transit in Hastings-Lennox & Addington through the 2024-25 Gas Tax program.
The funding supports transit in Bancroft, Loyalist Township, Marmora and Lake, and Deseronto. It can be used to expand service hours, add routes, buy new vehicles, and improve accessibility.
Loyalist Township will receive $198,449, Deseronto gets $193,792, Bancroft (including Hastings Highlands and Wollaston) will see $83,303, and Marmora and Lake (including Centre Hastings, Madoc, Stirling-Rawdon and Tweed) will receive $20,173.
The Gas Tax program is part of Ontario’s $380-million investment in public transit for 106 municipalities in 2024-25. The province says the funding helps people connect to jobs, school, housing, and essential services.
The government also supports transit through other programs like Connecting Links and the Ontario Transit Investment Fund.
Officials say these investments help build reliable, affordable public transit across Ontario.
