The Milky Way Stargazing Tour is taking place on August 30th and 31st at The Lennox & Addington Dark Sky Viewing Area. The laser guided tour of the night sky will be led by dark sky enthusiast Joe Gilker where he will point out constellations and different objects of interest in the sky that will be followed by a telescope tour. This month the focus will be on Jupiter and Saturn. Community Development Officer Rob Plumley says that the event usually brings people to the region from the larger cities:
Plumley says that the evening is always a lot of fun and gets going about an hour after dusk and attracts between 100-200 people. It is free and you’re asked to bring a blanket and lawn chairs. It is weather dependent and they will make the final call the day of around noon on their Facebook Page
