KFL&A’s pilot project to increase access to healthy foods, The Good Food Stand initiative is running for another year. Good Food Stands were developed by KFL&A and the City of Kingston as part of the Poverty Reduction Initiative. They are looking to reduce food instability and provide fresh produce to the people who need it by selling at reduced prices. Food Stands are open once a month at Secondary schools across KFL&A and at the Verona Free Methodist Church. President and CEO of United Way of KFL&A Bhavana Varma, says that they hope to provide fresh produce to people who need it the most. The Good Food Stand initiative started in 2018 and in total the stands were visited over 1,600 times and over 5,300 kilograms of fresh food was sold at affordable prices. The Good Food Stand comes to Greater Napanee starting tomorrow. Due to custodial summer hours will run 1-3:30pm tomorrow, but after that it will run Friday’s from 3-5pm at the school’s main entrance.
