The Gibbard Furniture Factory was an iconic landmark in downtown Napanee for over 180 years and the people behind the Gibbard District Riverside Community say they have a way to continue that legacy. They’re putting together a time capsule to preserve the history of the former Gibbard Furniture Factory. Lisa Ray Koenig, Executive Director of the Gibbard District, says you’re invited to put something in it.
The time capsule will be placed in the smoke stack from the original factory and it will be opened on November 14th, 2049. The items to go in it will be collected over the next six months. If you want to contribute to the capsule, you can drop off their item at the Gibbard District Sales Centre at 88 Dundas Street East on Thursdays or Fridays from noon to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.
