The Tyendinaga Mohawk Council has released a statement expressing both frustration and regret for the OPP enforcement activities that took place this morning. In the release it stated that little was done by Canada’s representatives to “set a course towards a peaceful conclusion”. It went to reiterate that the Council did not prompt nor sanction any demonstrations, but was watching to ensure their members and family were treated fairly and with respect.
The statement finished off stating: “We urge Canadian leadership to honour their commitment to reconciliation, not only to the Wet’suwet’en and Mohawk peoples, but to all indigenous peoples”.
