La Salle Causeway lane closures

Expect short delays on the La Salle Causeway starting 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 until 6 a.m. on Dec. 12 (inclement weather dates: Dec. 14-15) due to work by Public Services and Procurement Canada. Wolfe Island Ferry Docks’ changes

The entrance to the Kingston Dock has moved to the intersection of Queen and Ontario streets. The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) asks motorists to follow the direction of dock attendants while navigating the new marshalling area. It is making improvements to the Kingston and Marysville Wolfe Island ferry docks. Visit the project’s website to learn more.

Closures

  • Innovation Drive – John Marks to Innovation – closed through Dec. 11 to allow installation of a new water lateral.
  • Johnson Street – Sydenham to Bagot – expect the north side lane to be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17 to allow for masonry work to Hotel Dieu Hospital.
  • Rudd Avenue – Booth to end – expect delays due to land closure 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 15 to 17 to accommodate a tree removal.
  • Seabrooke Road – east of Highway 15 – closed through Dec. 11 to accommodate a culvert replacement.
  • Syndenham Street – Queen to Princess – closed 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec.17 for Night Hours programming.
  • White Church Road – north of Woodburn – closed 10 p.m. on Dec. 4 until 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 and again from Dec. 7 to 11 to accommodate a culvert replacement.

Delays

  • Albert Street – at Princess – expect delays to a lane closure until 5 p.m. on Dec.11 to allow installation of a storm sewer. Flaggers will be on-site.
  • Glengarry Road – Portsmouth to Indian – expect short delays and a possible lane closure as a contractor working on behalf of Utilities Kingston installs a new sanitary sewer and upgrades water mains.
  • Grenadier Drive – at Windfield Crescent – expect delays while construction takes place around the Kingston East Community Centre site. Flag-people will be on-site to direct traffic (see “Sidewalk” impact, below).
  • Highway 15 – north of Sand Hill – expect to experience delays due to lane closures until Nov. 1, 2021 as crews replace a culvert. Please follow the direction of flaggers. Ontario highway updates are offered by the Ministry of Transportation.
  • Highway 33 – east of Collins Creek Bridge to west of Coronation Boulevard – expect delays due to construction to improve drainage. Construction barrels and flag-people will direct traffic around the work zone. Ontario highway updates are offered by the Ministry of Transportation.
  • Jackson Mills Road – near the K&P Trail – reduced to one lane for roadside safety improvements but remains open in both directions.
  • John Counter Boulevard – Princess to Indian – expect delays until the summer of 2021 while crews complete turtle-fencing and water main work.
  • Princess Street – Collins Bay Road to Baxter – reduced to one lane in either direction until 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 to accommodate the widening of Princess Street and construction of turn lanes onto Creekside Valley Drive (entrance to new subdivision). Please observe the direction of flaggers and note that traffic may rerouted onto Westbrook and Woodbine roads.
  • Seabrooke Road – east of Highway 15 – expect delays through Dec. 11 as crews work to accommodate a culvert replacement (see closure notice above).
  • White Church Road – north of Woodburn – expect delays through Dec. 11 as crews work to accommodate a culvert replacement (see closure notice above).

Sidewalks

  • Grenadier Drive – at Windfield Crescent – expect construction around the Kingston East Community Centre site. The sidewalk on the south side of Grenadier Drive may be restricted weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. A flagger will be on-site to direct traffic and assist pedestrians.
  • Kingscourt Avenue – First to Third – West sidewalk closed to pedestrian traffic until further notice to allow the developer to access building lots and complete connections to municipal infrastructure. Please use the east sidewalk and follow posted pedestrian detours.

Lower Brewers Swing Bridge users:

Vehicles such as larger emergency vehicles and school buses are no longer permitted to cross this bridge. Parks Canada advises it has decreased the load capacity of this bridge from 10 tons to 3 tons. Built in 1984 to meet code for 10 ton capacity, it does not meet today’s guidelines and structural deterioration due to its age of has further decreased its load capacity. Design work for the Lower Brewers Swing Bridge is underway and it has been designated for replacement in 2021.
