Small campfires will soon be allowed again in Greater Napanee.
Effective this Friday, April 30, Greater Napanee Emergency Services is downgrading the current “Total Burn Ban” to a “Partial Burn Ban” thanks to the damp spring weather.
A “Partial Burn Ban” will allow residents to light and maintain a campfire of no more than 60 cm in width by 60 cm in height, used for cooking, warmth and/ or recreational enjoyment.
Open-Air burning is only permitted two hours before sunset until two hours after sunrise. Beginning April 30, this means that fires can be started at 6:00 p.m. and must be extinguished no later than 8:00 a.m.
An Open-Air Burning Permit is required for open-air burning in Greater Napanee. Open-Air Burning Permits can be obtained online through the Town’s website on the ‘Burn Bans, Permits & Open-Air Burning’ page. It is $15.00 for an open-air burning permit in Greater Napanee. Permits are valid for 365 calendar days from the day of purchase.
You are asked to be advised that due to the current Provincial-wide Lockdown, Greater Napanee Emergency Services is closed to public walk-ins. If you require assistance with obtaining an Open-Air Burning Permit or need to schedule an appointment for in-person payment of a permit, please contact Greater Napanee Emergency Services at 613-856-2226 or etyers@greaternapanee.com.
