Liberals in Hastings—Lennox and Addington have nominated Ted Darby, a healthcare executive, municipal consultant, and healthcare administration professor, as their Ontario Liberal Party candidate for the next provincial election.
myFM had a chance to speak with Darby, who told us a bit about himself.
Darby has a Master of Health Science degree from the University of Toronto and has held executive leadership positions at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, North York General, Mattawa General Hospital, and most recently, joint Vice-president for Providence Care and Kingston Health Sciences Centre. He has also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Township of King and Township of Stone Mills.
Darby told us a bit about why he decided to run in H-L&A.
He went on to say we also need major support for rural Ontario.
When asked, some of the issues he sees are in healthcare and long term care, which with his background, he knows there is so much more that can be done.
Darby says it’s a real challenge for small, rural communities to try to provide a level of service that people expect today, and that is something we need to pay attention to and work hard to find solutions for.
He also noted our growing communities locally and some issues that are faced such as transit. Housing, homelessness, and opportunities for youth are among other things noted by Darby.
The provincial election is currently scheduled for June 2, 2022.
