The Town of Greater Napanee is seeking feedback from the community regarding the configuration of the Centre Street Boat Launch area located along the Napanee River in downtown Napanee.
The current configuration of the Centre Street Boat Launch area does not provide a reasonable service level for members of the Greater Napanee community.
In a Report by Infrastructure Services provided to council, a few options were provided, one being relocation. Deputy Mayor Max Kaiser says he would like to see the launch remain in town
Community Engagement Clerk Brianna Clement spoke to council during their latest meeting about looking for feedback from the community.
The goal of this is to create an inclusive, sustainable and shared public space:
- Inclusive: considers those with accessibility needs;
- Sustainable: considers future growth of the Town; maintenance and enforcement efforts are realistic and accounted for;
- Shared: considers public and private interests. Maximizes space and traffic flow for boaters, recreational water users and restaurant patrons. Considers pedestrian safety and flow.
Residents are encouraged to submit public comments, concerns, questions and ideas for an ideal boat launch/parking area that will benefit the needs of the entire community at letstalkgreaternapanaee.ca. Staff will be considering all received public comments as part of the final report to Council for a proposed layout for the Centre Street Boat Launch area.
The Town will make every attempt to accommodate those who may have limited internet access or accessibility needs. Accommodations and alternative formats will be made available for those who cannot submit comment online. If you, or someone you know, requires assistance or wishes to have an in-person meeting with staff, you can request a meeting through Nathan Murphy at 613-776-1239 or nmurphy@greaternapanee.com.
The public consultation period is open until Monday, February 28, 2022.
