On Friday, June 17th, United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington will host its first in-person annual Day of Caring event in two years.
More than 400 volunteers from almost three dozen workplaces will provide much needed assistance to local agencies. Projects to be taken on include
repair work, gardening, painting, and cleaning.
Day of Caring organizers say the initiative lets volunteers learn more about agencies in their community and see firsthand what they do to help individuals.
During the pandemic, Day of Caring was modified to adapt to contagion related restrictions. This included individual acts of caring and making and donating kits that were distributed to United Way member agencies.
Friday’s Day of Caring event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Community Food Redistribution Warehouse (785 Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd.). Teams of volunteers will work throughout the morning and then gather at the Army Navy Airforce Club (317 Gore Rd.) from noon onwards for a wrap-up BBQ.
United Way Day of Caring Committee chairperson Michele Finney says people are looking for ways they can help. For more details on “Days of Caring” and how to donate, visit unitedwaykfla.ca/dayofcaring
