Local law enforcement officers took part in the 35th anniversary for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario in Napanee. The march left the Giant Tiger parking lot Tuesday morning and traveled down Centre Street where the finished in Conservation Park for a BBQ lunch.
myFM spoke with Sergeant Carol French from the Quinte Detention Centre, who told us about the event.
In attendance were local Special Olympic athletes, Lennox and Addington OPP, Greater Napanee Emergency Services Firefighters, L&A County Paramedics and officers from the Quinte Detention Centre.
French told us that the last couple years they held the Torch Run virtually due to the pandemic, and that it’s nice to be in-person again raising awareness.
During the Torch Run they were raising money for our local special Olympians.
