Tuesday night at the museum is back! This week on Tuesday, October 4th, the Museum of Lennox and Addington will be featuring local author Judii Merle.
myFM spoke with Merle, who’s family has an interesting background that lead her to genealogy. She has a love for digging into family history.
Merle’s book, Wabanang: An Anishinaabe Granddaughter’s Search for the Truth, is loosely based on her life. The main character is an Indigenous girl names Janey, who’s on the search for information on her grandmother. The only person she could turn to for information was her aunt.
The rest of the story is her seeing her grandmother’s life evolve in her community, at the residential school, how she makes a living and begins her family.
Tuesday night at the museum Merle will will bring her books and talk about Indigenous life, residential schools, why the communities are so disjointed and how the families are separated because of what happened in history.
Sisters in Spirit Dayon October 4th honours missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and shows support for their loved ones.
