The Napanee Raiders had a busy weekend, splitting a pair of games.
Friday, January 13th the Raiders hosted the Port Hope Panthers at the SPC. Scoring opened with two back-to-back goals within 16 seconds by Michael Patrick. The Panthers ended the period with two goals of their own to tie the game 2-2. Napanee took the lead during the second period with goals from Adam Nuttall and Cameron Krupa. Then in the third period Port Hope scored one more to bring them within one goal of the Raiders. Then within the last minute of the period, a goal by Ryan Kidd solidified their win, 5-3.
Sunday, January 15th the Raiders took a trip to play their L&A County rivals, the Amherstview Jets. The first period saw one goal for each team, with Blake Aylesworth scoring for the Raiders. The Jets opened scoring during the second period to take a two-goal lead over the Raiders. Napanee answered with two more of their own thanks to Nicholas Goosney and Soren Zamuner, to tie the game at 3-3. Following a scoreless third period, the teams battled in overtime, with Amherstview scoring the deciding goal, winning on home ice 4-3.
The Napanee Raiders remain atop the East Tod Division standings with a 26-3-1 record and 53 points. In second place is the Jets who have 39 points and third place Picton with 30.
The Raiders return to action Friday, January 20th, when they will be hosting the Campbellford Rebels at the SPC. Puck drop is 7:30pm. Then on Saturday, January 21st, the Raiders will travel to Frankford to play the Huskies. Puck drop is at 6:50pm.
