For a few months, some Enbridge Gas customers in Napanee, Prince Edward County, Belleville, and Kingston didn’t receive their bills due to what the utility calls a “technical issue.”
When customers asked about it, the company told them to pay what they thought they owed. With a hefty price hike though, when the bills were finally issued many found they owed hundreds just to catch up.
We asked Tanya Bruckmeuller, Ombud with Enbridge if there should have been a warning about that sent to customers.
She adds that any customers also have options when it comes to paying it back, because they shouldn’t be saddled with late payment charges.
Also, if anyone received a late-payment charge, they can call to get it removed.
Our Bob Perreault spoke exclusively with Bruckmeuller about the issue. You can listen to the full interview below.
