A 40-year mystery has been solved. Police have found the remains of a man missing since 1983 in Lake Ontario, near Amherstview.
Lennox and Addington OPP and the Search and Recovery Unit have identified human remains found in an old car in the lake in April after they were initially called to remove another vehicle that went into the water back in January.
The remains have been identified as David Hannah, who would have been 36 at the time he disappeared. Hannah went missing on Jan. 4, 1983 when he left his house in Amherstview. Police had offered a $50,000 reward for information that led to find him. At the time they believed that he had been murdered.
Police continue the investigation, and have not released any more details.
