Three charities in Lennox and Addington County are benefitting from federal grants thanks to the Community Foundation for Lennox and Addington.
The funds were provided through the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund.
CFFLA’s new Executive Director Bob Baker noted that this fund was created to help charities and not for profits recover from the pandemic.
The first to receive their oversized cheque was the Lennox Community Theatre, being granted $15, 820 to modernize their HVAC system at the theatre in Selby. Board member C.A. Cavers thanked the foundation on behalf of the threatre and provided an update.
The Morningstar Mission will be using their $69, 983 to fund a technology upgrade and support other projects. Executive director Kevin Alkenbrack thanked the foundation, who has been a big supporter of Morningstar for a long time.
The third organization to receive funding is the Newburgh United Church. Board member Jeff Sloan said they have been looking into the process of church renewal and how they can reach out more to the community and provide services over the last year. To help promote their events to the community, they will be putting their $18, 995 towards the purchase of an electronic sign.
A total of $536,903 in funding was distributed by CFFLA to a total of 10 organizations in L&A and Hastings Counties.
