Gas prices in Lennox and Addington County and Eastern Ontario have increased to levels not seen since August of 2022, when more of the country eased pandemic restrictions. (See chart below)
Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague predicted that prices in our listening area would jump a whopping 14 cents per litre, not only here but clear cross the province.
Gas prices in Greater Napanee Thursday morning are sitting at around $1.73. Online reports show prices in Loyalist Township and Kingston are up to $1.79. In Tyendinaga and Shannonville, gas prices are still around $1.54.
McTeague is blaming weakness in the Canadian dollar and the annual switch by refineries to the more expensive summer-blend gasoline.
The increase also follows the Federal Carbon Tax hike which has already added another 3 cents per litre in local pumps.
