Greater Napanee had a new fire chief for the day on Tuesday.
Natalina Idzikowski, a grade 5 student at Southview Public School, was this year’s winner of the fire departments fire safety poster contest, earning the chance to be fire chief for the day!
The message she wanted to share through her poster was to not leave the room when cooking.
Fire prevention officer Dean Martin says they chose Natalina’s poster because it reflected what they wanted and showed originality.
First order of business was to make acting fire chief Shawn Armstrong give a quick mop of the station.
She then got lunch with her staff and was given a tour of the fire hall.
In the evening, she made an appearance during the Greater Napanee Town Council meeting where she was recognized by council and got to show off her poster.
