Public Services and Procurement Canada has shared that now that the LaSalle Causeway is fully open for boats, they’re working on a temporary bridge to allow vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians to cross.
PSPC understands that closing the LaSalle Causeway to traffic has made it harder to get to downtown Kingston and has caused more commuting delays, which will get worse in late summer and early fall.
PSPC is working with the City of Kingston to find a solution that allows both road and foot traffic while keeping the waterway open. They will share their plan and timeline in a future update.
For now, the waterway will stay open unless work on the structure requires a temporary closure, in which case PSPC will notify the public in advance.
