Early morning Monday, August 19, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers from the Prince Edward County OPP were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 62 when they stopped a vehicle for a routine check. Further investigation led to the administration of an approved screening device, which resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old resident of Belleville. The driver was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired due to blood alcohol concentration.
Following his arrest, the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Court on September 11, 2024. His driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The OPP continues to remind drivers of the serious consequences of impaired driving and remains committed to keeping roads safe through their RIDE programs.
