The Ontario government is investing nearly $35 million in Greater Napanee to support the construction of 4,000 new homes. This funding is part of the $970 million Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, which helps municipalities improve drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
The project includes expanding and upgrading the Greater Napanee Water Pollution Control Plant, a critical infrastructure improvement for the growing community.
Hastings–Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee praised the investment, highlighting the importance of supporting smaller communities like Greater Napanee in meeting housing goals in Eastern Ontario.
Additionally, the government is allocating an extra $250 million to the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund and is accepting applications for a second round of funding. This brings the total investment in the fund to $1.2 billion.
Ontario’s 2024 budget also includes over $1.8 billion for housing-enabling infrastructure, combining multiple funding programs to accelerate homebuilding across the province.
