Today we are looking at Crop Farming…with Kaiser Lake Farms
Max Kaiser is the second generation on this three-generation farm. Max’s dad Eric began the farm in the 60’s. Max is the youngest of four and has gone on the take over the farm. He and his wife Jessica will now soon get to pass the business on to their two eldest children.
The farm has grown to roughly 1400 acres where they plant corn, soy beans, and wheat. The Kaisers also have chickens.
A day in the life depends on the season. They plant the corn and soy beans in the spring, harvest the wheat in the summer, and right now they’re harvesting the corn.
Max says that one of the great rewards is that all farms across Canada are family farms. There’s the sense of family and getting to pass it on. Sharing the extracurriculars is fun too he said. Being your own boss means you can spend an afternoon going for a 4-wheeler ride with your family around the farm.
