The Greater Napanee Town Council recently reviewed the progress of the Napanee Area Community Health Centre Conditions Agreement, established to improve local health care. Ellen Hamel, Treasurer of Financial and IT Services, reported that the Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHC) has reached its goal, securing 15 full-time doctors and nurse practitioners to serve the community.
Under the agreement, created in April 2024, the town invested $156,738 to expand primary health care access.
Mayor Terry Richardson highlighted KCHC’s ongoing registration drive at the Best & Bash arena, aimed at connecting unattached residents with primary care providers.
Richardson encouraged residents needing a doctor or nurse practitioner to visit the arena with identification, as the goal is to provide health care access for an estimated 4,000 residents without a primary provider. This collaborative effort marks a significant step toward improving health care for the Greater Napanee community.
