Prince Edward County OPP have laid additional charges against a local man as part of a major fraud investigation involving more than $500,000 in losses.
With help from FINTRAC, police have been investigating offences stretching back several years. Initial charges were laid in July 2024, but new victims have come forward, leading to further charges against 65-year-old Paul Marconi of Prince Edward County.
Marconi now faces two counts of fraud over $5,000 and two counts of theft over $5,000. Police say the investigation involves numerous victims and financial losses tied to a series of alleged fraudulent activities.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on January 8, 2025.
The investigation remains active, and police are asking anyone with information to contact Prince Edward County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
