Former MP Derek Sloan is making another bid for office in Hastings-Lennox and Addington. The Ontario Party leader announced his intension to run in the Feb. 27 provincial election.
Sloan, who represented the riding federally from 2019 to 2021, was removed from the Conservative caucus after a white nationalist donor was linked to his leadership campaign. He finished his term as an Independent, speaking against COVID-19 public health measures and appearing at anti-lockdown rallies with former MPP Randy Hillier.
Sloan previously ran in the riding in the 2022 election, finishing fourth with 7.35% of the vote. The Ontario Party, which was founded in 2018, has yet to win a seat but plans to run candidates in every riding this time.
Also on the ballot so far in H-L&A are Ric Bresee (PC Party of Ontario), Jessica Zielke (Ontario NDP), Lynn Rigby (Ontario Liberal Party), and Mike Holbrook (Green Party of Ontario ).
