UPDATE: Since originally publishing on their social media over the weekend, the Town of Greater Napanee has provided an update that the seasonal load restrictions will be delayed until further notice due to the cold weather. By-law allows restrictions to be implemented as early as February 15, 2025.
Town staff will be closely monitoring current weather data to determine the precise timing for enacting the restrictions. This data-driven approach ensures that load limits are implemented when road conditions are most susceptible to damage.
The Town will issue further public notice when the load restrictions are officially in effect.

Original Article: Seasonal weight restrictions are now in place on roads in the Town of Greater Napanee to help protect municipal infrastructure.
Under By-law 2023–0087, load limits are enforced from February 15 to April 15. Vehicles exceeding five tonnes per axle are not allowed on restricted roads without a permit.
The town recognizes that some businesses and residents may need to transport heavier loads. Anyone requiring an exemption must apply for a permit through the municipality.
These seasonal restrictions help prevent damage to roads during the spring thaw when pavement is more vulnerable. Officials encourage drivers to follow the rules to avoid fines and protect local infrastructure.
For more information or to apply for a permit, residents can contact the Town of Greater Napanee.
