A routine traffic stop on Highway 49 has led to impaired driving charges for a local driver.
Ontario Provincial Police say officers from the Prince Edward County detachment pulled over a vehicle around 9:30 p.m. on March 10. After using an Approved Screening Device, police arrested the driver and took them to the detachment for further testing.
Jordan Lewis, 29, of Prince Edward County, is now facing several charges, including impaired operation by alcohol, having a blood alcohol concentration over 80, three counts of driving while under suspension, and driving with improper headlights.
Police say Lewis was released from custody and is set to appear in an Ontario court on April 2. The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Police remind the public to call 9-1-1 if they suspect an impaired driver, as it could save a life.
