Two long-time United Way KFL&A leaders have been honoured with the King Charles III Coronation Medal for their dedication to the community. Kim Hockey, Vice President of Community Impact, and John DiPaolo, President and CEO, received the medals at the United Way KFL&A Board Meeting on March 11, 2025.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal recognizes 30,000 Canadians who have made outstanding contributions to their communities. Hockey was nominated by United Way KFL&A, while DiPaolo was nominated by United Way Centraide Canada.
Hockey has worked with United Way for 30 years, leading initiatives like Success by 6, the Youth Homelessness strategy, and federal funding allocations. DiPaolo, with 15 years at United Way KFL&A, helped lead a record-breaking $4 million fundraising campaign in 2024.
Both recipients were surprised and humbled by the honour. United Way KFL&A Board Chair Peter Clarke praised their leadership and commitment.
This recognition is “deeply humbling,” said Hockey. DiPaolo added, “What makes this all the more special for both Kim and I is that this nomination was put forward by our teammates here at the United Way.”
United Way KFL&A continues to make a lasting impact, and this award highlights the dedication of those working to support the community.
